Home Remedies (1997) by
Family Research Council
The Family Research Council in the 1997 Home Remedies Guide as an
excellent Home Bible Study recommends CIBS studies for children.

Christian Home Educators Curriculum
Manual by Cathy
Duffy
This is the first of a series of inductive Bible studies
for children based on the approach used in the well-known Precept Upon
Precept studies. Children learn to dig into Scripture as they work through
the lessons. Large print copies of 2 Timothy and a section of Ephesians
(New American Standard version) are at the back of the book for students
to work with. They identify key words by marking them with special symbols.
They explore the who, what, where, when and why for selected people and
events. They make topical lists of facts. Periodic review reinforces the
learning. Lessons are completed with an action --something to put the learning
into practice. The author sums it up well: "The student will glean
basic facts from the text of Scripture (knowledge), learn how these truths
fit together in context with the whole counsel of God’s Word (understanding),
and begin to see how the reality of these truths can make a difference
in their lives now (wisdom)."
The beauty of this type of study is that it teaches children
how to search out the Scriptures for themselves. The fifteen lessons in
the book can be completed as a family study or used for independent study.
However, each student should have his or her own book since there is a
great deal of written activity plus Scripture worksheets that students
use frequently. (Books are not reproducible.) Children who are not yet
writing can do much of the work orally. A brief Teaching Guide outlines
the lessons, provides additional Scripture references, teaching tips, and
answers (when appropriate). This is not an activity-oriented study; the
only activity I spotted was making a "salvation bracelet or necklace"
to be used as both a personal reminder and a witnessing tool...The Know
& Grow approach should work well in home schools, day schools, or Sunday
Schools, although you might want to add some activity, stories, etc. for
Sunday School...

Written by a veteran Precept leader and homeschooling
mom, this study follows closely the format of the Line upon Line series.
There are observation sheets included for each chapter as well as lots
of activities and ideas...

INDUCTIVE BIBLE STUDY COURSES FOR CHILDREN
These are the BEST courses I have seen for learning God’s
Word. Students learn to think about what God is saying, interpret it in
context and apply it to their lives. These studies proceed through the
Bible "precept upon precept, line upon line". Rather than draw
conclusions for the students these courses encourage students to glean
insight from God’s Word itself, thereby drawing your children closer to
their God. I believe these studies will have a great spiritual impact on
the children using them. I can’t recommend them highly enough!

Beyond Survival, A Guide to Abundant
Life Homeschooling by Diana Waring 1996
Seeing a need to teach how to study the Bible, Bill began
using the Children’s Inductive Bible Study program by Janice Southerland
with our children on a daily basis. It was an eye-opening experience to
see the children delving into the Scriptures with a hunger to know. Strong’s
Concordance became a familiar tool, and the Greek Lexicon was in hot demand
around our living room. Fantastic conversations kept erupting over things
being learned, over questions of what was meant by this phrase, over issues
mentioned in that phrase, over what it means to be a Christian in the nineties.
Our children learned how to handle God’s Word for themselves with increasing
skill, which immeasurably deepened their relationship with Him.

The Basic Steps to Successful Homeschooling
by Vicki Brady, 1996
What good do our successes and failures do for others
if we keep them to ourselves? For that reason, I have included this chapter
on my personal favorites regarding books, curricula, and products that
I have used, tested, or reviewed over the years...
CIBS. This program, created by Janice Southerland, teaches
creative thinking skills and practical application for Bible study that
transfers over to other disciplines...

Thanks for the children’s Bible study. As a homeschooling
mother of six young children 2 Timothy has allowed my oldest son
(11 years old) to do an independent study with me checking his work and
talking to him about it. I have been able to use the Bible study as a resource
for spelling lists also. The Word of God must be the strong foundation
for our children to build upon as they face futures in an uncertain world,
and your Bible Study cam help make that happen.
Thanks again,

My overall impression of the study is that it is very
good. I’ve never done inductive Bible study before and for the most part,
this was very clear...

I prefer to get away from the crafts. It is not an issue
with how long a study may last; what is important is that they get it!
Problem today is that we can debate topics, but we have lost the flow of
the Bible, knowing the theme of the books. Kids need to be grounded in
the Word; not just stories about the Word.

Please send me information on how to order your studies.
We are homeschooling our children and your books have come highly recommended.

After having experience the value of inductive Bible
study in my own personal life as a student and also as a teacher, I am
so please to see that this valuable tool is now being offered to our children.
I can see the benefits of teaching our children from childhood to search
out the truths of God’s Word by letting the Bible speak for itself through
the power of the Holy Spirit. The method of inductive Bible study is presented
step by step in a way that can be clearly understood and used by the child
without being too much for them to comprehend at each sitting.
God Bless You,
